  • Courses run on a monthly basis, with sessions on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6.15pm - 7:30pm

  • Drop-in spots are available on courses that have remaining spaces, though priority will be given to those signing up for the full monthly course

  • Each course/class is capped at 4 people

What are aerial straps?

Aerial straps are a set of cotton or nylon ribbons that are then suspended to form a strap apparatus. The performer wraps the strap around their hands and wrists to secure themselves in place and allow them to perform a succession of holds, twists, rolls, and manoeuvres. Aerial straps are considered one of the more physically challenging disciplines, requiring physical strength, focus and endurance. But once mastered, they not only improve your physical attributes but allow you to craft impressive routines with a high degree of difficulty.

The history of aerial straps

Aerial straps first came to prominence as a discipline amongst Chinese performers, who would perform high intensity musical routines using the straps, with moves that often resemble those performed on aerial rings. In contemporary terms, aerial straps were pioneered by the famed Panteleenko Brothers in the 1970s, existing as an unheralded part of their routines for nearly 20 years, often sacrificing mainstream acceptance for innovation and difficulty.

What to wear during aerial straps classes

For optimal comfort and safety during your Aerial Straps class, we recommend wearing stretchy, form-fitting attire. Loose clothing can pose hazards by getting caught on equipment. Advanced choreography involving waist rolls and c-shaping positions may lead to bumps and bruises on areas like knees, elbows, wrists, and hips. To prevent this, layer up with items like leg warmers, leotards, long socks, and gaiters. Keep long hair tied back and remove all jewelry for a worry-free experience.
