Who we are

From the brief to the final bow, we design the whole moment: we cast the performers, shape their acts around your event and engineer the rigging that puts them in the air. The same team has created the VIP experience at The Brit Awards since 2018, and runs Madam Lola's, one of the UK's most exciting new cabaret venues.

How it works

From the first call to the last bow, one team handles all of it.

  1. Get in touch

Tell us about your event: the venue, the guests and what you would love to happen.

  2. We design the act

We suggest the right performers and acts, and shape them around your event.

  3. We build the rest

If you need it, we also handle staging, set design and dressing.

  4. We run the night

Our team rigs, operates and performs, so you can enjoy your event.

The speciality

Performer flying

Plenty of people can book you an aerialist. Very few can safely fly one above your guests.

Our riggers are performers, coaches and choreographers. We have been on the other end of the rope, so we rig for the act and shape it for the moment. We are one of the few specialists in the UK running two performer winches and a full range of systems, here and abroad.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Performers and bookings

Where can I book performers for a party or event in London?

Secret Productions books aerialists, fire performers, magicians, burlesque artists, dancers, stilt walkers and speciality acts for parties and events across London, Brighton and the South East. Tell us the venue, date and budget and we will suggest the right line-up.

Can you book aerialists and fire performers for a private party?

Yes. We supply aerial hoop, silks, straps and flying acts, plus fire breathers, fire dancers and fire eaters for private parties, birthdays and weddings. We also rig the aerial point if your venue has nowhere to hang from.

Do you provide entertainment for corporate events and award ceremonies?

Yes. We have created the VIP experience at The Brit Awards since 2018 and provide performers, walkabout acts, aerial reveals and full shows for launches, conferences, Christmas parties and award ceremonies.

Do you book music acts and DJs as well as performers?

Yes. Alongside circus and cabaret acts we book live music, singers and DJs, so one team can programme the whole night.

Do you programme festivals?

Yes. We programme and produce performance for festivals, from roaming acts and aerial shows to full stage line-ups, and we bring the rigging to make it happen.

Circus parties at home and team building

Can you bring a circus party to our home?

Yes. We bring a freestanding aerial rig and coaches to your home or garden and run an afternoon of aerial, circus skills and body art for children, teens or adults. No rigging points needed.

Do you run parties for teenagers and children?

Yes. Our coaches teach kids and teens aerial hoop, silks and circus skills on our own rig, with face painting, body art and balloon modelling available to make a full party of it.

Do you run circus team building for companies?

Yes. Our circus and aerial team-building workshops get colleagues trying hoop, silks, handbalance and circus skills, at your venue or ours, led by professional coaches.

Rigging, flying and hire

Can I hire a freestanding aerial rig?

Yes. We hire freestanding aerial rigs for venues with no rigging points, either dry hire or delivered, built and run by our riggers. Ideal for marquees, ballrooms, gardens and outdoor events.

Do you rent truss for custom events?

Yes. We supply and install truss, including Milos and Prolyte, for custom builds, stages, aerial points and set structures, as a temporary or permanent install, with LOLER inspection and rigging paperwork.

Can you install permanent or temporary rigging points in a venue?

Yes. We install permanent and temporary aerial and performer flying points into concrete, steel RSJs and truss, including anchor bolt installation, for theatres, clubs, studios and event venues.

What is performer flying and can you provide it?

Performer flying lifts an artist through the air on a winch or line system for a reveal or moving aerial act. We are one of the few UK specialists running performer winches, including Vertigo and ActSafe RCX, with Dyneema, Tech-12 and counterweight systems.

Which venues do you rig for?

We are the resident circus and performer flying riggers for venues including Studio 338, Steel Yard, Heaven and Madam Lola's, and have rigged at Egg London, Electroworks, Brixton Electric and many more.

Why are your riggers different?

Our riggers are aerialists, coaches and choreographers as well as riggers. We perform the disciplines we rig for, so we know exactly what an act needs, what to look for and what can go wrong, and we can perform on the night if needed.

Winches and performer flying safety

Is any winch safe for flying a performer?

No. Many winches and hoists are built to lift or hold loads, not people. Flying a performer needs equipment designed and rated for lifting people, operated by trained people, with a rescue plan in place.

What should I look for in a performer flying winch?

Look for a winch designed for people flying, with redundant braking, an emergency stop, controlled speed and positioning, overload protection, full manufacturer documentation and a current thorough examination by a competent person. Always ask who is operating it and what their training is.

Why did Secret Productions work with Vertigo on a new winch?

There is a real lack of safe, suitable winches in the UK for this kind of performer flying. Secret Productions consulted with Vertigo on the creation of their new performer flying winch, which we now own and operate.

Inspections, LOLER and PUWER

How often does my aerial or circus equipment need inspecting?

Under LOLER, equipment used to lift people, including aerial and performer flying equipment, needs a thorough examination by a competent person at least every 6 months, or as set out in a written scheme of examination. It should also be checked before every use.

What is the difference between LOLER and PUWER?

LOLER covers lifting equipment and lifting operations, including thorough examinations. PUWER covers all work equipment, making sure it is suitable, maintained and inspected, and that people using it are trained. Aerial rigs and flying systems fall under both.

Do you carry out LOLER and PPE inspections?

Yes. We carry out LOLER thorough examinations, PPE inspections and circus equipment checks for venues, studios, schools and performers, with written reports.

Do you inspect circus and aerial studios?

Yes. We inspect circus and aerial studios every 6 months, covering rigging points, anchors, apparatus and PPE, so studios stay safe and compliant.

Do you inspect and install anchor bolts?

Yes. Our IRATA certified team inspects, tests and installs anchor bolts for aerial and flying points in concrete and steel.

Do you provide risk assessments and rigging paperwork?

Yes. We supply risk assessments, method statements, rigging paperwork and certification for every install and event.

Who creates bespoke cabaret shows in the UK?

We do. Secret Productions creates original cabaret and circus shows, old and new in style, from A Bohemian Dream at London's Emerald Theatre to the shows at Madam Lola's in Brighton.

Can you design an immersive event or club night experience?

Studios, training and fitness

Where can I learn aerial silks, hoop or straps in London?

At Secret Studio London. We run aerial silks, aerial hoop, straps and flying pole classes and private coaching for beginners through to professionals.

Is there an aerial and circus studio in Brighton?
